"Australian paper artist Emma van Leest is using scissors like painters
use brushes. Her technique, like many other paper cutting artists, is
at first what draws you in to her work. But on second glance, after
you've gotten over the "wow" factor, her particular view of the world
comes through. Drawing on inspiration from fairy tales and the Brothers
Grimm (a common theme) she creates little dioramas both three and
two-dimensional."
